Pioneer Weekend

Last weekend we had a Clegg Family reunion up Settlement Canyon in Tooele. It was awesome to get together with my cousins, aunts, and uncles and visit, laugh and talk, catch up on all the news, reminisce about fond memories. This is the first reunion I've been able to attend in a long time and it was really great!

The food is always fantastic at Clegg gatherings! Clegg's are known for their good food!

When I wasn't talking to my cousins I was watching my kids play in the stream. They had the best time walking up and down the stream.

Caleb even got right in and threw some rocks and sat right down in the water!

Caleb didn't mind it was cold, it felt good on a hot day, but he would have walked all the way up the stream had I let him!

Mara and Reagan coloring together. This is my cousin's little girl. Looking at this picture reminded me of being a little girl with my cousins and I am grateful my kids could have this opportunity to get to know their family and see all their cousins.

Ty is trying to get Mara and Reagan to do something....what I don't know! But they had fun running around with the other little cousins.

Caleb loves finding bugs--he likes to pick them up in his two little fingers! Here he found a few ants and was really excited!

Caleb would find rocks from clear up by the pavilion and carry them all the way down to the stream to throw them in! Silly Boy!

I'm excited to be living closer so we can go to many more family reunions--and somehow I was nominated, voted, or maybe somehow volunteered to be in charge of next's years!! Yikes! I better get started on the planning!

Friday night we returned to Price and Saturday we spent the day with our Stake celebrating Pioneer Day!
Blessed Honor Pioneer!
I love the pioneers! I love that I'm not a pioneer! I love hearing their brave stories of courage and obedience. I look up to my pioneer ancestors and grateful for the heritage and legacy they left for me.

Saturday we began the celebration with a parade--except instead of watching the parade we were actually in the parade!

Caleb rode in the stroller and walked with his dad parts of the time.

Ty and Mara rode their bikes. Ty said this parade was too slow and wanted to just cruise past everyone to the end!

Mara liked the downhill part better than the uphill but it wasn't too far and they both did a great job in the parade!

After the parade we all met at the church for some games and lunch.

Ty and Benson were partners in the 3-legged race!

They did great and had fun and even came in 2nd place!

Mara and Caleb found the candy stash and wanted to eat as much candy as they possibly could!

While at the parade we met a nice family in another ward. We talked for a while before the parade started and later they invited us over for a BBQ and fireworks at their house. It was a lot of fun meeting new families and friends.

Good Things to Come

Last November we put our house on the market. We had faith and prayed a lot that our house would sell. Every prayer our children offered said 'Please bless our house to sell.' Everything that could go wrong did when trying to sell our home. We entered the relocation program where the government will buy our home if it does not sell in a certain amount of time.

Just today I told my friend "I just don't know if I can keep going. I'm ready to give up. I don't know how much more I can take." Then I remembered the words of Jeffery R. Holland from this clip Good Things to Come "Don't you quit! Never give up!"

We were given an offer from the relocation company which was barely high enough to make us come out even. Although it was not the answer we were hoping and praying for...we did end up closing on our little blue house in Tillamook!! We didn't have to foreclose. We didn't have to split up our family. We didn't lose our credit. We are blessed. Prayers are answered and truly good things are yet to come!

We are excited to be here in Price. It too was an answer to prayers. We are anxious and excited to find a new home for our family!

Gone fishin'

If you can't find us at home there's a good chance we are at the pond, lake, or river trying to catch a fish! (Trying is the key word here!) Our family has taken up a new hobby and interest in fishing. We have our poles, worms, power bait, pretty much everything needed to catch a fish--the only thing we are lacking is either the skill or luck! But like any new hobby it takes time and this one even takes a little patience!

A few weeks ago for Family Home Evening we took the kids to the nearby pond to catch a few fish. Ty was the only one who caught something--in fact he caught TWO fish! Way to go Ty! (We forgot the camera or we would have taken more photos! )

As you can see from Ty's face he did not like the idea of holding the fish in his hands! Too bad--we wanted a picture of the master fisher-boy holding his two fish!

Last week we went to Tooele for a family reunion. We decided we would try fishing again at the local reservoir. It was just Ty and his mom and dad which was a nice little one-on-one time for him. We went a little too late in the morning, we couldn't catch anything.

Ty sure tried catching a fish but not today, they weren't even biting! He complained a little that it was too hot and was disappointed he didn't catch a fish.

But Ty did learn how to cast his line today and he practiced that a lot and is pretty good at it now.

*what summer FUN is*

Boy is it hot Hot HOT here! But we are loving every minute of the fun in the sun! Here are a few things that have kept us cool and busy this summer. We never want the summer to end, we are having too good of time!

Swimming Pool

For Ty's birthday he was given a blowup swimming pool. The kids are in heaven swimming in their own back yard!

We even put the basketball hoop close by so we could have water basketball!

The first time we filled up the pool we didn't have a hose (it's still in storage!) so we used buckets and pots and pans! It took quite a while to fill it up but it was worth it, the kids had a blast all day!

They didn't even mind that the water was a little chilly--it was refreshing and felt great!

Time to dry off and get warm!

Water Party
For play group one day we went to Pioneer Park and had a water party. There was a slip-n-slide, a pool, water balloons, squirt guns! It was a P-A-R-T-Y!!

There was a slip-n-slide going down the hill--this was awesome! Ty and his buddies started from the very top of the hill and ran all the way down and slid clear past the grass!

Caleb was happy with just playing in a bucket of water---well for a few minutes at least!

Mara is not much of a slipping and sliding fan! She much rather just run down!

Caleb didn't mind sliding! Weeeee!

And let's not forget the refreshments! Yum red punch! Ooops! When Caleb was done with his shirt, it looked like it was tie-dyed. I didn't think it would ever be white again---thank you SHOUT for shouting out the stain! It came out perfect!

Bike Parade

Another day for play group we had a bike parade. We all decorated our bikes, strollers, scooters, any thing we wanted with balloons and streamers and then went on a little bike parade! Then we had treats to celebrate the birthdays in July!

Caleb loved the balloons and brownies!

Ty couldn't ride his new bike he got for his birthday because the chain kept coming off--I guess we better take it to papa to fix! So he rode his old bike, which he already looks too big for!

Mara is a great little bike rider. One pink balloon and one purple balloon: those are her two favorite colors!

Slip-n-slide
Ty also got a slip-n-slide for his birthday! I decided we were going to be well past summer before we ever saw our hose so I better go get a new one from Wal-mart! It has already paid for itself we've used it so much!

This little bathing beauty is so tan! Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen and she still has a brown little body!

Ty loves his slip-n-slide! This little boy loves playing out in the water any chance he can get!

Popsicles
A cold and refreshing treat on any summer day: popsicles! Hurray!

Sometimes they share their popsicles and try each one to see who's is the best!

Pretty darn cute and tasty I must say!

So thankful for such wonderful sunny summer days! Truly this is the BEST time of life!

one and a half

Caleb is growing up faster than we can believe!

He just turned 18 months!
How can my little baby already be 1 1/2 years old?
Today he had a A+ check up at the doctor!
Perfect in every way!
He weights 24 lbs 8 oz and is 32.5 inches long!
WOW he's a big boy!

Caleb is our little jokester!
He makes us all laugh.
He says: mama, dada, papa, nana, (banana).
He is a good little cuddler--when he wants to be!
We love everything about Caleb...especially his hair!!
Sometimes Caleb's hair is spiky!

And on occasion it is in a Mohawk!
(Who is that peek-a-booing in the back?)

The best big brother in all the world: Ty!

Caleb's favorite thing right now is :BASKETBALL!
He LOVES basketball hoops, basketballs, and really all balls for that matter!
Every time we go for a walk he points and yells when he sees a basketball hoop.
When we get to church he points in the cultural hall and yells because he sees the basketball hoop!
This kid has a thing for sports!

He shoots....he scores!

But everything to Caleb is basketball...he shoots the ball up on my counters, the table, and even the bed:

Then he claps for himself and feels very proud!

I knock it down...and then he shoots it again!
It's a little game we play!

Caleb has two favorite spots to sleep:

And on hot days Caleb loves sleeping on the couch in front of the air conditioner!
Caleb is doing better sleeping in his own bed, but he would prefer these other spots any day!

Caleb loves to eat--that is when he can do it himself!
Caleb loves using a fork and spoon!
Some of his favorite foods are: chips, rice, cold cereal, scrambled eggs, corn cut-off the cob, gummies...and much much more!
