"While the cats away the mice did play...."That is exactly what we did this trip! While Nate was in training during the day the kids and I explored Phoenix and played and relaxed and enjoyed every minute of the vacation!
Phoenix Zoo
Even though I've taken my kids to plenty of zoos and they are usually the same this was a new experience for Caleb and he really enjoyed it. He loved watching the animals that were in action! Those that were just lying there asleep he didn't really care for, but if they were moving or eating or making noise he was so excited.

A fun day with my kiddos at the zoo!

Sometimes I think my kids are animals and belong in the zoo!

Ty was our navigator! He read the map and told us where we were going next.

Sometimes Mara took a turn too with the map!

I always like seeing the giraffe, they are my favorite!

I don't see any animals in the background--just a T-Y-animal.

Where is the hiding animal? There's Ty!

Caleb loved the warthogs!

These squirrels were sure not afraid of people! They came right up to the kids, they almost tried petting them! Caleb got a kick out of the squirrels and the birds. He loved watching them run across the road and the birds land all around him.

"No more pictures mom!"

These little critters were funny to watch (no not my kids) I mean the prairie dogs! They would come out of their holes and run around and build nests. They were very entertaining

The zoo also had a petting zoo and farm.

Caleb sure wasn't afraid to pet the goats! He kept trying to attack them.

Ty liked brushing the goats.

The kids tried milking the cow.

Caleb's other favorite part was being free and playing in the kid area.

Mara is one tired girl after a fun day at the zoo.
Rose Mofford Sports Complex
Across the street from our hotel was a fun park for the kids to play at. Caleb loves playing at the park. He is big enough now to climb the stairs all by himself and slide down the slides. Although Ty and Mara both love to slide down with him!

A little help from big brother!

My little chubba-bubba loves playing at the park!

Mara bouncing on the cricket.

I can't tell if Caleb is liking or hating swinging right now? He loves to swing...

...but not as much as sister! Mara is my little swinging girl who can't get enough!
Stuffington Bear FactoryI took the children to the Stuffington Bear Factory where they make stuffed animals. We were able to go on a tour of the factory, learn the history of the teddy bear, and make our very own bear! The kids thought it was awesome! I thought it was a little overpriced and a little lame, but if the kids were happy then it was great!

This is biggest bear we have ever seen!

Ty tried picking up this bear but it was bigger than he was!

Ty loves stuffed animals. He misses all his stuffed animals and loved hugging all of the ones there.

This is the wall and hall of bears. It went all the way down on both sides and ceiling.

This is the stuffing machine. Ty chose a green bear because green is his favorite color. First they put stuffing in the bears.

Then they sew up the hole in the back.

Then you have to brush your bear using a brush with a vacuum. This fluffs up the fir of the bear.

Next you give your bear a bath. It blows off all the loose fibers.

Finally they tie a bow around your bear, and you choose a name and you cuddle and love your bear. Mara chose to call her bear "Clifford the big red bear" and Ty's is "hulk".
