Ronald Reagan Presidential Library

The great thing about our Lowry family vacation was that not everyone wanted or had to do everything that others were doing. For example Mimi & Blake volunteered to take the children to the park so that the adults could enjoy a visit to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. At first I wasn't all that interested in going--the park sounded much more fun, but it sure was nice to have some quiet time and feel like I was on a little date with my hubby! The kids had a great time playing at the park and I learned quite a bit about the history I had actually lived through but did not remember because I was so young.

Here is the air-force one we were able to tour.

The limo Pres. Reagan drove in.

The actual Marine One helicopter that flew President Johnson.

Little Miss Anna came along with the adults, she was so easy going and seemed to enjoy just riding in her stroller!

Things about the Library that impressed me and I want to remember:
  • Seeing President Reagan's suit that he wore when he was almost assassinated. I didn't know he was assassined and thought it was interesting to read about the doctors caring for him and his recovery.
  • I liked the Oval office and learned that each president gets to choose how they want to decorate their oval office. President Reagan had a western theme because of his love of horses.
  • I also enjoyed the special exhibit featuring the Miniature White House. It was an "authentic recreation of the White House measuring 50 feet long and 18 feet wide: a one-foot-to-one-inch scale. Taking over 600,000 hours of labor to create!" Amazing needless to say anything else. Teeny tiny television sets turned on and had rotating pictures. Tiny lights lit up on crystal chandeliers. Photography must not have been allowed or I would have taken pictures of this amazing exhibit!

I didn't see the miniature creation, nor Air Force One, but I wanted all of you to learn more about that time in our History.

Blake and I loved playing with the children at the park. We had snacks, and they love Uncle Blake. It was an easy day for everyone.

Shopping at Costco was a great idea, and provided us with lunches for the next few days.
