Lake Powell Adventures

Ever since I can remember my family would go on a summer vacation every year.
Destination: Lake Powell
It has been nine long years since I've been to Lake Powell so when Nate's family asked who wanted to go I was one of the first to say "Count us in!!"
Living in Price made the drive to Powell so sweet! I remember as a kid that drive took forever! 3 hours was nothing, one movie for the kids and we were almost there!

We made one quick stop in Hanksville.

We ate our lunch along the way, got out to stretch our legs...

...at my favorite gas station: Hollow Mountain!
And we even played my favorite game: Who can see Lake Powell first?
I did! I won!

We met up with the Card cousins and clan and got all ready to board the houseboat.

I think my kids were amazed by this place! I know I still am!

We waited and waited for the house boat...the family before was not on time and when they arrived we had to wait for them to get everything off and clean off the boat. So while we waited the kids played in the sand and water and thought it was great! (notice Caleb's lifejacket has a leash hooked on! not a bad idea!)

When we finally arrived on board we organized things and set sail. The kids colored and played games while we traveled.

Mara played with her cousin Hope!

Caleb took a turn driving the boat.

And so did Ty with a little help from his cousin Zac. He and Zac were good buddies this trip, even though Zac was twice Ty's age!

It actually turned out to be a blessing that the family before us was running so far behind, we drove the boat over to the gas pump to fill up all the tanks and when we were tied on to the dock a pretty good size storm came. We felt safe and secure in the houseboat tied on to the dock. We were grateful we weren't trying to anchor our house boat to the shore.

Once the storm passed we were okay to head for shore. We stayed in Halls Creek Bay.

Every day was full of sunshine, smiles, and fun!

Boat rides are super fun especially with cousins! Mara was so cute with Garrett, she would talk to him in a real high sweet squeaky voice!

We had three boats, one jet ski, 3 sea kayaks, and 2 row boats! There was never a dull moment! We had so much fun!

First tube ride of the trip! Zac, Ty, & Eli going for a fast ride! The big boys kept saying faster faster, Ty kept saying slower slower! By the end of the trip he was saying faster faster!!

These boys had a fun ride! They probably would have gone all day had Nate not flipped them off!!

Next it was Trish, Garrett, & Colin's turn! Hold on little Garrett!!

Caleb loved the boat ride! I thought he might hate his life jacket the whole time but he didn't seem to mind it!

What a good big sister! She's always watching out and taking care of her little brother.

Super-duper excited...it's our turn! Hold on tight this is going to be fun!!

One entire family on the tube at one time! Now this was going to be fun!

Here we are waving, having a fabulous time on the tube.....

....until it submarined and we all fell in the water! It was pretty funny!

Nate grabbed Caleb and kept him up out of the water,

I grabbed Mara, and we all swam to the boat!

What a fun trip for our family! A family that plays together...stays together!

Here is part of the Card Clan...there were 33 people on the house boat! It was quite the PARTY!!!

Here's Ty jumping off the back. He was a brave little boy, he even jumped off the top of the house boat and went off the slide!

This 'little' chubby boy cracked me up! His name is Sawyer and I just got a kick out of him! He was one of the easiest babies I've ever seen! He loved sitting in his little bumbo watching everything going on! He's only 8 months, but pretty chubby and oh so cute!

One night after dinner Ty said his tummy hurt and asked if he could go lay down. When we found him he was fast asleep on the bed, well on top of all the bags on the bed. He was exhausted! He had swam his little guts out and played all day long and he had worn himself out. He went to sleep after dinner and slept all night long! He was one tired boy!

Enjoying the beautiful view of the lake after a fun day.

Caleb snuggling in the pack. We went for a little night hike and he loved just snuggling with his mommy! By the end of the hike he was asleep and ready for bed!

Two tired kids from so much fun! Look at that little bum up in the air!

Everyone sleeps good at Lake Powell. That's because everyone plays hard and is too tired.

Yes! I was envious of all the good time. This brought back so many memories.

Glad you had so many toys for all ages and sizes.

How often did you eat fish? Were the guys successful at providing fish for everyone?

I laughed at the picture of all your family grinning from ear to ear on the tube, just before you all got dumped.

Caleb's smile is worth a million bucks. He looks thrilled to be behind the wheel.

You will all be talking about this vacation until next summer, when you go again.

Dad says it is not fair that you got two exciting, incredible vacations in one summer. He is also jealous.

This post almost killed me. I miss Lake Powell so much. I regularly dream about being there. I wish we lived closer, had a boat, had a house boat, etc.
