Basketball Camp

For the past two weeks Ty attended Basketball camp through Carbon Rec. He enjoyed running, passing, dribbling, and shooting the basketball!! It has been a good experience for Ty to learn basketball skills as well as meet new kids. He was a little worried the first day when he went and he didn't know anyone. But he quickly warmed up to everyone and had a really fun time each morning.

The first morning of the basketball camp I was trying to pump Ty up and I told Ty how excited I was for him to be going to camp and how fun I had at basketball camp and he said "I know mom! It's going to be almost as fun as Disneyland!!" I don't know about that much fun but at least he was excited!
They played lots of fun games as well as activities for teach the basketball fundamentals.

One of the games they played was a pac-man game where they had to do a defensive slide position on the lines before the 'pacman' tagged them.

Someday Ty might just be playing on this court for CEU!! Hopefully USU!! Who know?!

Ty's couch announced one day that there would be a Utah Jazz player coming to do a visit for anyone who wanted to come see. He would be doing drills and answering questions and meeting some of the kids here in Price. So I thought that would be a neat experience for the kids and decided to take them down to meet the Jazz player: Jeremy Evans.
At first the kids just shot around until Jeremy Evans came out.

Caleb stole one of the kids basketballs and was so happy playing with it!

Ty's almost got it! He sure practiced hard this week on his shot! Caleb tries shooting it too--he does the cutest thing when he tries 'shoot' a basket. He gets underneath and does a little jump and grunt to shoot! It's so funny!

Here they are announcing Jeremy Evans

They did a little clapping game with Jeremy and every time he bounced the ball and it hit the floor they had to clap. He tried to get them out by bouncing the ball or holding the ball and if they clapped without a bounce they were out.

It was a lot of fun, Mara and Ty got the hang of it but Jeremy was pretty tricky and got them out!

The next game they played was a passing game. They had to pass the ball over their heads to the person behind them. When Jeremy was done explaining the rules he was going to give a demonstration. He turned around and saw the smallest person the court: Mara! Here was Jeremy 6 feet 8 inches trying to pass the ball to Mara who was barely 3 feet! It was pretty funny!

When the ball got to the last person in the line they had to roll it through their legs until it got back to the first person.

I know this photo is blurry but it's pretty cool too! Here Jeremy is giving everyone in line high five--even Ty who gave a high five back!

*Another funny story about basketball camp: Ty was talking to his Grandma Lewis on the phone. Grandma asked Ty if the hoops were big or small. He said the the small ones were for Caleb and Mara he shot on the big ones, they were the size of a medium long neck! I think Ty might be the only kid I know that uses dinosaurs as a standard for measuring!!*

I wish we could have been with you. We just couldn't leave sooner.
I did laugh at the distance between Jeremy and Mara.
They certainly got some special attention.
I was surprised how blond Caleb is.
