Kid's in the Kitchen

One of my favorite things to do is cook with my kids. We have all sorts of fun making goodies and treats. Ty and Mara both enjoy helping out on meals and I love the extra hands in the kitchen. My mom sent me this recipe and I wanted to go for it with the kids. I was really hoping it would taste like the Chili's Motlon Chocolate Cake--(Wow! Yum!) but honestly it didn't compare! But it was alright for a 5 minute cake in the microwave! And the best part about it was doing it with the kids and no clean up! In case you want to try it here's the recipe:

5 minute Chocolate Mug Cake
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
a small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug
Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high). The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired! Serve with ice-cream!

The finished product:

It was really fun watching it rise in the microwave! We thought it was going to explode!

Yummy!

Thats a really good idea! Then you won't have all sorts of leftover dessert to tempt you all week (which is my downfall!)
