Soccer Season!

I think this was the coldest and wettest soccer season--and we aren't even in Tillamook!! But it has also been a fun and rewarding soccer season! Nate and I both get a huge 'kick' out of watching Ty play soccer! He is so athletic and full of energy!

You can't really tell--but Ty is the white player in this picture! He is always by the goal ready to score! A few times his coach would put Ty on defense and tell him to play at the opposite end, but too many times Ty would get a break-away and dribble down the field all the way to score a goal!

Ty's not the only one who LOVES soccer---Caleb is a mini soccer pro! Even at a young age he is ready to compete! The game was actually going on and the teams were at the other end of the field and Caleb took his ball and kept making goals! I had to keep retrieving him and telling him he couldn't play with the big kids!

Here Caleb is practicing his kicks!

And although it is sunny in the photo do not be deceived--it was actually pretty dang cold! Hence the reason Caleb is wearing Ty's coat! Brrrrr! So much for spring soccer, most games felt like winter sports!

We did actually get one or two really nice days! Here Mara is practicing he soccer skills. We kept asking her if she wanted to play on Ty's team but she would say "No, not until I'm 6 like Ty!" Maybe next season she will be ready!

When Caleb wasn't practicing kicking the soccer ball he would run down near the school and practice shooting the soccer ball in the mini basketball hoop! This kid just can't get enough sports!

After running the field Ty sure is a thirsty boy! I'm sad that Ty's soccer season is all over! I sure did love watching Ty chase that ball and get so excited when he scored a goal!

I love that Caleb is so into sports! His favorite word is 'football'! He loves anything that is round and reminds him of a ball! I hope this excitement of sports continues throughout his life!

One day after school Ty fell down and skinned his knee. He was so worried he wouldn't be able to play his soccer game the next day. He went to school and was talking to his friend Dougie who was on his team and telling him that he wasn't sure if he was going to be able to play in their game because of his hurt knee. Ty said that Dougie's response was "Ty you just have to play! You are the best player on our team!" I think that comment healed Ty's knee completely because he was so excited to go to his game.
He said to me, "Mom? Do you think I am good at soccer?"
I said "Yes! Do you think you are good at soccer Ty?"
"Ya! I'm good at soccer. It's my favorite sport!"
Some might look at this as being cocky and prideful! But I look at it as being confident and full of self-esteem on the soccer field!
Go Ty Go!!

Ty is a great soccer player. It comes naturally to him. It is nice to see that he is becoming more confident. He has been so shy.

Caleb will excel in any sport. It will be good for the brothers to play together.

I am surprised that Mara isn't ready to play. I had to laugh at her when she was 3 she said, "I'm too little" and she was. She is such an "I'll do it myself girl." that I thought she would jump right into soccer. Maybe next year.
