Mothers

"God placed within women divine qualities of strength, virtue, love, and the willingness to sacrifice to raise future generations of His spirit children." Elder Quinton L. Cook April 2011

This past weekend we were able to celebrate Mother's Day. I think every day should be mother's day, not just once a year! But really every day IS mother's day--at least for me! I just love being a mom! I love everything about it! But I wouldn't be the mom I am today without the wonderful women in my life that I have looked up to!

I wanted to make a list of all the 'moms' in my life that have influenced me and helped me become the woman I am today, but I think the list would be too long and I'm pretty sure I would forget someone! So instead I will just say "Thank You" to all you wonderful women! Thank you for your example, thank you for teaching me new things, thank you for all the love and support in my life. I must say an extra special thank you to my mom for giving me life! Thank you to Dyann for giving birth to Nate and raising such a wonderful son! I feel very blessed to have such good fine examples in my life of love, strength, and virtue from many lovely ladies!

A few pictures of the reasons why I am a mom and why I love being a mom:

I love that these 3 kiddos made my life a dream come true!

I love praying with my children! What is more precious than seeing your children praying?
(I'm probably not being very respectful with this picture, but man I just couldn't resist!)

I love sleeping babies! I love watching them and wondering what they are dreaming about. And I love the peace it brings to my home when they are tucked into bed!

I love snuggling with my kiddos! Any day is a good day with lots of loves and cuddles!

I love playing sports with my kids! I can't wait until they can play me at basketball--ok, I can wait, but I'm sure they will be there before I know it!

I even love crawling in tiny tents with little kids and playing games or hiding from tickle monsters!!

I love trying new things with my kids--even if it's flying a kite! I learned that is one thing I need more practice with, or more wind!

This was the best we did the entire day--and it didn't last too long! But it was sure fun to try to fly a kite with my kids!!

I love the sweet gifts (tangible, and non-tangible) that my children give to me! This Mother's Day they gave me new pink pajamas, flowers for my yard, and a cooler for camping! But I also loved the hugs, sweet homemade cards, and kisses all over my face from 3 sweet angels!!

Mother's Day Weekend 2011

We had a fantastic and fun weekend celebrating with our family on Mother's Day. Friday night we all gathered at Grandma & Grandpa Lewis's for pizza and a night at the park.

Ty practiced his T-ball skills!

Caleb couldn't get enough soccer!

Caleb and Garrett had a fun time together making goals at soccer!

Although the bat is as big as Caleb is, it doesn't stop him from hitting home runs! He truely is a mini athlete!

We even found time to play at the park! The kids are trying to go up the down!

Don't tell Caleb he isn't a big kid! He thinks he can do anything the big kids do! Even slide down the tallest slide head first!

Mara was not interested in sports but rather holding and kissing baby Lincoln!

Auntie Beanie & Bwinkey-Winkey! Lincoln loved being outside and watching everyone play and have fun.

Probably the kid's favorite part of the night was having a sleep over at Auntie Chelsie's house!

Saturday Brunch:
On Saturday, while the men & children worked outside helping Grandma Lewis in her yard, the women worked in the kitchen making a wonderful and delicous brunch.

This was Beanie's brunch idea and it turned out fabulous!
We enjoyed ham and egg cuppers, potatoes, orange rolls, fruit salad w/ lime dip, fresh squeezed orange juice, and lemon mousse!!
It was a very citrusy meal but quite tasty!

Some of the recipes can be found on a new blog:

I think the nicest gift for my mother's day was the extra time I had with just Nate! We were able to do some shopping in Salt Lake. We went on a lovely 3 mile walk and talked the entire time! We went out to eat at Cafe Rio and walked around Home Depot looking for more supplies for home repair projects! It was nice to feel like a couple again and have uninterupted converstations and hold hands without holding kids!

On Sunday we had a nice day at church followed by a relaxing day at Mimi and Papa's! We played games and the kids did an art project. Jason and Erin came with their girls and our kids were ecstatic to see their cousins! It was fun for them to play together! Sorry no pictures! I guess we were too busy getting a meal on the table and getting ready to go home! But it was a wonderful weekend and once again we were grateful to live close to family to participate in all the fun events!
