The Birthday Celebration!

What a party! Ty had a great birthday complete with birthday cake, presents and fireworks! He didn't want to wait until after dinner for the birthday cake, and who can blame him? So as soon as daddy got home from work we had chocolate birthday cake with fireworks on top! I made Ty's cake while he was taking a nap. When he woke up and went into the kitchen he saw it. He came running to find me and said, "Mama I saw my birthday cake and wow it looks incredible! You make such beautiful things mama!" How cute is that?

When Ty gets excited he sticks out his little tongue just like a little puppy!

Ty opened all his presents and he wasn't disappointed one time! It was hard to be sneaky at the store with Ty right there, I tried my best, but most of the presents he already knew what they were! He was thrilled anyway though even without the surprise! Last year Uncle Blake gave Ty a foam sword, so this year he got another one so he and daddy can have sword fights. They have so much fun whacking and chasing each other around! One sword looks like a pirate sword, which daddy was playing with. Ty had the other one and tried to switch daddy for the pirate sword. Daddy said 'Ty don't you remember I had the pirate sword?' Ty responded by saying, "You're right daddy, you did. Thank you for being right!!" Is that funny or what? 'Thank you for being right?'

Ty kept saying with every present "I hope it's a game!" Finally he got his wish--a new game!

The face says it all! The cake was yummy oh so good!

What does little sister think of all this birthday party for brother? Well she's happy to have the birthday cake!

Well all plans change and sometimes that's not a bad thing! Last night we were planning to go to the beach to roast hot dogs and watch the fireworks. The weather wasn't the best for the beach last night, and it looked like rain was on the way. We worried that the kids wouldn't hold 4+ hours on the beach in the cold so we took another invite from friends to a BBQ. Several families were there with their kids and Ty and Mara had a blast! They loved running around the backyard with little friends, and jumping on the trampoline, and playing on the swingset! I don't think they could have been happier even at the beach! We even got to do sparklers and watch a great fireworks show from the field. Now who can say they watched the fireworks on a dairy farm? Not too many people, unless they live in Tillamook!! We remembered watching the fireworks from the hospital window that first night with Ty. We also watched them from the fire-station in Pennsylvania. Last year was at the beach--so why not see how many different places we can watch the fireworks?! Who knows where next year will be?
