Unexpected Vacation

After spending a couple days with the family I was trying to decide if I stay one more day and let Nate drive back to Price or whether I just drive back with him and let the kids stay a couple days and play with their grandparents....anyway, the answer came to me in a phone call. It was my mom. She was at the University of Utah hospital. Scary. No one likes a phone call like that! So I rushed over to the hospital late Sunday afternoon and stayed with her over night while the doctors ran every test and tried to figure out what was wrong with Mimi!

Meanwhile...while I was in the hospital with my mom, the kids were enjoying being with their family. It actually worked out very nice that I happened to be up in Salt Lake and could take care of my mom and the kids were in good hands with my in-laws. On Monday while I hung out in the hospital the children enjoyed a fun day at the Aquarium!

The doctors decided my mom had a partial bowel obstruction (now however they say it could be a hernia!) On Monday night Jason's family was able to come over to the hospital while we were there. It was fun for the kids to see their cousins--even if it was in the hospital! We hope Mimi gets feeling better and hopefully she will be on the mend!

We checked Mimi out of the hospital, thank goodness she was feeling better. We took her to her house and decided we might as well stay the week since we were planning on coming out again on Friday! So Nate went back to Price and worked and the kids and I had a fun unexpected vacation in Salt Lake!
When we got to Mimi's house it was sunny and warm. Within a few minutes the storm came in, rain and poured for a good ten minutes and then cleared up and was sunny with a double rainbow again! Talk about crazy weather! The kids were so excited about the water in the ditch they couldn't resist running up the street splashing in the water! Check out that little pant-less wonder!

Who knew playing in the gutter could be so much fun!?! The kids had a blast!

The next day Mimi had an appointment in Salt Lake so we decided why not make a fun time out of it and meet Jason, Erin and the girls at Liberty park for a picnic and playing in the park. (Although I should have kept my mom in bed and helped her recover she was pretty determined to make it a fun day for the kids!)

My mom makes the best picnics I know! Philly-steak and cheese sandwiches! Yum!

Cold, tasty, ice-cream treats! Perfect for a hot summer day! Seeing these cute cousins sitting here reminds me of playing with my cousins at Liberty park every summer! Good times, good memories!

Caleb thoroughly enjoyed his cold Popsicle treat! He made an absolute mess but he didn't seem to mind!

I just can't get enough of this kid! Love love love him!!

It's a good thing we took lots of duck bread, because we had 5 kids who were eager to feed the ducks! And as soon as we started tossing bread in the pond all the ducks and geese came-a-swimin'!!

We kept saying to the kids "Sit down! Sit down!"

I felt a lot more safe when the kids were sitting down on the dock. I couldn't stand the thought of my kids falling in the nasty water!

But for some reason Ty just wanted to stand up so he could get a better aim and throw it farther!

I'm so glad Mara and Kate are such good friends!

I wish I would have videoed Caleb feeding the ducks! It was pure joy! He just loved it! He laughed and giggled and had the best time ever!

Next it was time to wade our feet in the streams! No matter how little the water is...Caleb loves to splash and he WILL get wet!

I tried my hardest to keep Caleb dry! But it was near to impossible!

A cute story I want to share:
The kids thought it would be a good idea to float their sandals down the streams. When it was time to go we said to the kids put on your sandals and we will go play at the playground. Kate went to get her sandal and couldn't find it anywhere. It wasn't in any of the streams. We looked under bridges, in the pond, but it was no where to be found. Then we look over and see Ty kneeling down. We thought he was looking for the sandal, but he wasn't. Finally I noticed a stick float down under a bridge but it doesn't go through so I stick my hand and feel to the bottom and low and behold there is Kate's sandal! Ty runs over and says to me "Mom, do you know why you found that sandal? Because I knelt down and prayed that we could find Kate's sandal! I knew we would find it because I said a prayer!" I'm grateful for Ty's faith in prayers and I'm grateful that he has a testimony of prayer!

Liberty Park has the best playground around! The kids had a blast!

Their favorite thing on the playground was this spinney ride that spun them around and around really fast!

I am glad your Mom is on the mend! I think that is so sweet that Ty's prayer was answered!
