Day 2 of Arches N.P.

After the worst night of sleep EVER while camping--we woke up to a chilly morning! (We layed down on our air air mattress and before we were even asleep we were laying on the ground!) We thought the night was never going to end!

We enjoyed a delicious cup of hot cocoa to warm us up in the morning!! Hot chocolate and cold donuts for breakfast got to love breakfast while camping!

I'm this BIG!

As soon as we woke up and had breakfast we hit the trail and started our hike. As you can see Caleb is not riding in the back-pack, instead he is using his own two feet to hike!

I thought I could carry Caleb for a little while and hurry our hike up a bit...

but it didn't last long, he wanted to hike himself. And he DID! All the way down to the first arch.

This was the first arch we saw of the day....I think it's called Pine tree arch. As soon ash we saw the sun the weather was perfect and we warmed right up!

The second arch we saw--can't remember what's it's name is.

Can you see something hiding in the tree? That little Ty loves climbing in trees.

Actually Ty climbs on just about anything he can find...trees, stumps, logs, rocks....

Love. These. Kids!!!

Mara did a great job hiking on her own...she just needed a little lift for a minute!

Here we all are---our shadows that is!

Landscape Arch!!!
This is one of the arches I remember well from our trip a few years ago! I love this arch! (And I love those 4 cute people in the photo!)

The Lewis fam...we did it! YAY! What a great little hike we went on....but it's not over yet!

Caution: Primitive Trail DIFFICULT Hiking!
That's right, the next part of the hike was very difficult and the kiddos were troopers!

So after we hiked to the Landscape Arch we made our way up the steep, slope of a cliff all the way to the top.

Ty did a really good job climbing this steep mountain. It was rather scary climbing up but he is quite the good rock climber!

We made it to Navojo Arch. We didn't go to this one on our last trip so it was neat to see a new arch.

Navajo arch was one of my favorites this trip.

A great little spot to eat our snack and check out that view! Wow, you don't see a place like that everyday. It alone was worth the hike!

Caleb cracks me up! He will find the smallest of small puddles with a tiny bit of water (mostly mud) and throw rocks in it! One of his favorite words is 'waber'! He cried and said over and over 'waber' when we took him away from his puddle! He could have stayed all day throwing rocks in his mud puddle!

The kids can always find a little hole or hiding place along the trail!
Here we are sitting under partition arch. Seriously does life get better than being on vacation?!

I am simply amazed at the magnificent creations of natural arches!

Ty trying to take a peak through the arch.

I'm so proud of this kid! What a great hiker Ty is. He doesn't even complain when we make him carry the back pack! I picked up a hitch-hiker on my way--he's on my back!

That is one sleepy sweetie! She just couldn't possibly hike any more! I think we hiked somewhere around five miles! That's quite a bit for one day!

One of my favorite things is hiking with my buddy Ty and holding his hand and walking along the trail!

Just when we thought we couldn't hike anymore we walked down the streets of Moab and did a little window shopping. This is Mara's grit her teeth face as she rubs her little brother's tummy! She just loves him so much!

What a handsome little guy who hardly sits still even for a photo!

After an early dinner we went for a scenic drive to see the Colorado River and look for any wildlife...well the only wildlife we saw was black and white and can make a bad stench: yup a skunk! Leave it to Nate to find a tiny skunk in the field! I think this was the only wildlife we saw on our trip.

What a beautiful night for a scenic drive! Such Beautiful country!

I have driven thru Arches, but never hiked there. I was amazed at the many different arches.
That blue Sky and red rock is always spectacular.
I am thrilled that you and Nate enjoy camping and are teaching your children how to be good campers.
It is nice that they like to hike, play, and explore.
Another fun day in Paradise!

We wanted to go to Moab this year, but never seemed to have time. Hopefully next year, it's so much fun!
