The great escape!

Wednesday

On Wednesday I ran away! I left my kids with Mimi and I got out of town! I drove...drove to my good ol' home town of South Jordan! There I went to the temple. It was nice to attend the temple, but wished Nate could have been with me. It was nice to escape--did I feel guilty? YES! But was it worth it! DEFINITELY!
After enjoying the sweet spirit and peace in the temple I met my good friend Heidi for lunch at one of my favorite restaurants: Chile's! Heidi and I met at Utah State almost 9 years ago!! Crazy how time flies but grateful for a wonderful friendship!
Next I went and met my new "nephew" Kade---well he's not really my nephew but close! My friend Shannon who has been like a sister to me and who I've been friends with since preschool had a brand new baby boy who I was dying to meet! I spent a few minutes holding that tiny little boy who was only 7 lbs and a few oz! Oh how sweet! It was good to catch up with good friends. I love my dear friends!

I quickly drove back to Tooele just in time to pack up the car and head back to Salt Lake for a picnic in the park with the family.

We met Jason & Erin and Scott & Lorisa at Sugarhouse park for a fun evening of good food, sports, playing at the playground, and feeding the geese and ducks.

Caleb loves playing soccer. He is even more fascinated with basketball, but we all enjoyed playing a family game of soccer.

Crochet was fun too! Ty has this game down...well not exactly the rules, but he has fun hitting the ball.

Mara liked showing us all her tricks at the playground! She loves to swing on the bars.

Caleb loved swinging--higher mama! higher!

Ty and Kate couldn't resist climbing the tree! If there is a tree this boy will climb it!

Before we went home we had to feed all the birds. There were many different kinds here at the park: geese, ducks, and seagulls!

More bread please Mimi!

Ty & Mara loved throwing the bread to the birds. It was almost as fun as feeding the seagulls at the beach!

Caleb wanted to go swimming with the birds. Had I not held him back he would have jumped in the pond and gone for a swim! The thought just makes me sick--that water was not clean!

A fun night at the park. Glad we could see family and play at the park.

All mom's should get a day away just to regroup and renew friendships.
I'll try to help you escape to be with friends. They are gifts to you and bless your life in ways that no one else can.

The park was delightful. It was good to play a family soccer game. My siblings and parents would play baseball and I have fond memories of fun together.
Duck feeding is always a winning activity.

I just wish we had more time. The evening was too short.
