Going...Going...Gone!

News Flash: The Oregon Coast has experienced the nicest, sunniest, most beautiful weather in history! But it's still been pretty cold! The past couple afternoons I've taken the kids out to the beach to watch the sunset. It was pretty chilly--probably 30 degrees so we bundled up--not much colder than it is in July! Ha! (Okay a lot colder!) The first night we went to Cape Meares and walked along the beach for a little bit but Mara got too cold so we went back in the car. We thought we could watch the sunset from where we were parked but the sun was right behind the cape so we missed it! Bummer!

Well the next night we tried it again at a different beach--Happy Camp and this time we played on the frozen ice the was along the beach! We had fun throwing rocks on the ice and watching it crack. We also slid around on it--all fun until Ty slipped and got hurt! Poor kid--nothing broken he was fine! (It really doesn't take much to entertain kids: rocks, sand, ice!)
Well we watched the beautiful sun set. It went down quickly then we quickly jumped in the car and turned on the heater full blast to get warm again!

I will truly miss the ocean and the Oregon Coast. It was Nate's dream to live by the coast and I must admit it has been such a neat experience to drive out and see the ocean whenever we want. I will miss my long walks on the beach and taking the kids in the summer to just sit and play in the sand. The beach and I became great friends on lonely and long days. It was always there for me! I felt so relaxed and calm and at peace when I'm at the beach.

Going....
Going...
Gone....

I am envious of your time on the Coast, so close to the ocean. And what a good mom you are to take them even in frigid weather~
