Pets!!

We have never really had pets before..I'm not really a pet person! And then one day when Nate was out working in the yard he found not one but TWO little creatures and decided they would make good pets! So we welcomed a tiger salamander and a garter snake into our home!

At first Carder wasn't too sure about this four-legged fellow! 

But soon he found him to be very fun and interesting! 

And it wasn't long before he had fallen in love with his new friend! 

Nate gave the salamander to Ty and Ty named him Tyger! (Or Tiger after being a tiger salamander). He is kept in a bucket in our mud room! Although this picture was taken a month and a half ago we still have the little salamander and it just may become our newest addition to our family!!

Well the snakes name is Scales, and he too was kept in a bucket in our mud room. And one day Scales somehow escaped the bucket and ran loose through our house! I was not happy with this news but figured it would just get lost in an air-duct or die somewhere! Two weeks later as Ty went into the guest room downstairs he looked down and there was Scales on the carpet! Ahhhh! I'm so glad it wasn't me to find the snake! I don't think I would have even picked it up! So we put Scales back in the bucket but decided it might be best to let Scales go! It has been warm enough outside that he could survive and although the kids were sorry to see Scales go it was probably for the best!

Ty too had one last hold for Scales and then let him go! 

Caleb was the most sorry to see Scales go because he had adopted the little thing and felt like he was his very own snake! But I'm sure Scales is much happier living outside eating bugs, and slithering around the backyard than living in a bucket in the house!!

I'm sure these are not the only family pets we will have....I have a feeling this is only the beginning!
