Summer Memories...

A chill is in the air, school has started, and I'm still wondering "Where did summer go?How did it go by so fast?" It's sad but true summer is almost over but before it's officially gone I wanted to write one more post of random pictures and fun memories that we had this summer...

We started summer out playing baseball! Although it's not Ty's favorite sport he gave coach-pitch baseball a try. He did pretty good....now it's time for football!! (Caleb doesn't really care what sport it is! He loves to watch and participate in it all!)

We signed up for our community walk group. We were given maps and directions for seven different walks around our community. We can do the walks at anytime and when we finish each walk we get a punch on our card. Sometimes we walked, other times the kids rode their bikes. It was a good way to get exercise and also get to know the community better.

This walk was down the Helper Parkway. I didn't even know Helper had a parkway! Another walk was around the cemetery and we had to find certain headstones of the first people here in Price. Another walk was around the college campus.

Another way we got to know our community this summer was by participating in a Scavenger Hunt around Price. This event was to celebrate Price's 100th birthday! We went to 25 different businesses and looked for a historic or antique item and when we found it the business signed off our paper. It was fun to see the different businesses, most I had never been in. Honestly the real reason why I did this was to give the kids and I an excuse to get out of the house, but it was also to be entered in the drawing!!! I was hoping we could win the grand prize of the new BBQ or a new bike...Mara and I both won a prize at the end, but it wasn't a new BBQ or a bike!!! Mara won a bag of quarters ($10 worth) and I won a Wells Fargo duffel bag! Oh well, it was still fun to participate!

Speaking of birthdays! This summer we celebrated a very special birthday!! Nate's Grandma turned 80 and to celebrate we all went to a work party! We gave a day of service by painting Grandma's house and deck. I wish we would have taken before and after shots. It was amazing! I guess we were all too busy painting and working that we couldn't take time for a picture! It was fun to be together as a family and also to serve our grandparents.

One of my favorite things this summer was reuniting with good high school friends! I can't believe it's been 12 years since I've seen these girls! Are we really getting that old?! It was so fun meeting for dinner and catching up on old times! I hope to see them again and not have to wait another decade!

One of my other favorite things this summer was getting 2 bikes and a bike trailer (all for FREE!) and going on bike rides with the kids! Finally I'm able to keep up with Ty and Mara! Caleb loves riding in the bike trailer and it was fun doing a family activity together. One night we decided to ride our bikes down the Smith's. We bought a watermelon and a few groceries and put them in the trailer and rode home. We were all pretty tired after that ride!

When Caleb wasn't getting pulled in the bike trailer he was riding his tricycle. Caleb learned to ride a tricycle this summer! Yay Caleb! He learned how to pedal and steer! He will probably be ready for a bike next summer! Boy he has grown up fast!

If we weren't on a bike ride or at the swimming pool we were probably at the park! I think we went to every park in Price this summer! We love this park because it's shaded so when it's too hot outside we head over to the nice cool shaded park to play!

Speaking of cool... this is one cool dude! Oh Cay-ub how I love you! He is all dressed up and ready for church! I love his little outfit complete with tie and suspenders!

Our project this summer was an old tree! We dug and dug and dug this thing! We each had a shovel and worked at digging it out! It was a lot of work!

After we dug several feet down we sprayed it down and dug some more! We must have dug 3 feet or so! We hooked it up to a truck and thought it would come out...but nope! It's still stuck! I wanted to report that all our work got this tree out, but it's still sitting there in the front yard! I think we are going to work a little more on it and try pulling it out with two trucks! We want to start landscaping this fall so we better get it out!

Guess who this is?! I'll give you a hint... It's not Ty!! Oh silly Caleb! When it was just too hot to even play outside it was dress up time inside!

But usually we tried keeping cool outside either in the pool, slip-n-slide, or running through the sprinklers. Our neighbors invited the kids over to play on their inflatable slide/pool! Such a fun day!

The kids loved this! And who wouldn't?! It was a great day at the Dunn's!

On the way to the Tetons Ty lost his 2nd tooth!! I was trying to wiggle it and help him get it out but he turned his head and my finger hit his tooth and it popped right out! The tooth fairy surprised him with some money in his cup holder in the car!

During the summer we had a visit from Ty's 2nd grade teacher! That's right, his teacher came to our house to meet Ty and his family! (His teacher took this picture of us and sent it to me!) I should have gotten a picture of Ty with his teacher!! We are thrilled that Ty has Mr. Lasslo, he is a great teacher and Ty will have a wonderful school year!

We tried a garden this year! This heap of plants may not look great, but our garden has really produced this year! We planted: cantaloupe, peppers (red, green, yellow), tomatoes, potatoes, zuccini, yellow squash, cucumbers, and ......

watermelon!! This is what we are most excited about! We have about 5 watermelons growing in our garden that we are just waiting to ripen!! Let's hope it doesn't get too cold too fast!

Well I guess that does it for our 'not so lazy' summer days! It was fun while it lasted and glad we could do so many wonderful things together this summer!!!
