Wow! 2nd Grade!! Ty is growing right up! He was so excited about school this year. I don't know if it was because his teacher came to our house to meet him or if it was because he knew a lot of friends in his class. Maybe it was the special priesthood blessing his daddy gave him the night before school started! I don't know for sure what it is, but I know my 'not-so-little T-Y' is a big kid now!

Usually on Ty's 1st day of school he is holding me in the death-lock and refusing to let go! He usually sheds a few tears which makes me shed many tears and then I leave him. Well this year was not that way! All the kids in his class were outside at recess! He was so excited he ran out the door and found his buddy Cole! I had to call him back over to get a hug and kiss! (I know someday he is going to be way too big for that so I'll enjoy it while I can!) Ty is a great kid. Mr. Lasslo is a lucky teacher to have him in his class!!

Ty and Cole have been friends since Kindergarten! Ty was thrilled when he found out Cole was in his class!

The first 3 days of school were only 1/2 days. Which was nice that it eased the kids into the whole school thing! Mara and Caleb rode in the wagon over to school to pick up Ty.

It won't be long before these two cuties are all grown up and going to school. I think I can wait for that day! Such good friends! It's fun to have them as little pals.

Mara started her 2nd year of preschool. Although she is 5 (her birthday is right on the deadline) I had the choice whether to send her or keep her back another year. It was a hard choice! On the one hand she is so ready for kindergarten! She is reading and writing and could do just fine in school, but long term I felt like she would be even better off with one more year at home. It's hard to think about Mara at the age of sixteen, but with the long perspective I wanted her to be the first to date, first to drive, tallest on the basketball team, and the oldest in her class--not the dead youngest. I'm so glad I have one more year with Mara at home by my side! We are a team...best friends...good partners!
