The Flu

It's been no fun to feel so sick,
We've all prayed to get better quick.

It started with Ty when he missed two days of school,
He had 103 fever and I tried to keep him cool.

Thursday night I started to feel ill,
with a cough, and a fever and even a chill.

I couldn't move and I hurt from my head to my toes,
My chest was tight and I had a runny nose.

What could one do
When she had the flu?

NOTHING!!!!

Nate stepped right in and saved the day,
He took off work and watched the kids play.

Saturday I woke up feeling just as crappy,
I stayed in bed with my nose in my book and took a long nappy.

Mara woke up Sunday with the terrible croup,
She took a good rest and ate chicken noodle soup.

Caleb has been grumpy-bored and so sad,
He's just way too busy and sitting around makes him mad.

Ty's feeling better, he still has a cough,
He stayed in bed most of Sunday and tried sleeping it off.

After resting and taking it easy on Sunday,
How can I possibly wake up on Monday?

My house is a disaster-worse than I've seen,
My bathroom need to be scrubbed, my kitchen needs a good clean.

Not only this: but there's laundry to do,
If you couldn't tell I'm feeling quite blue!

I haven't even started packing for the trip to Utah,
In just FIVE days we'll be with family: HALLELUJAH!

With so many things there are to do,
Oh a mother just possibly can't get the flu!!!

I think you must be feeling better if your mind can make a rhyme.

I can't make words connect, and I am well.
It was fun to read your creative writing, but not fun to be sick. I agree with you, Moms should never get sick.

You must be better if you care how the house looks.

Very impressed with your poetic skills! I used to have them, but have struggled lately in the creative department! Excited to see you this weekend! Hope you are feeling better for the long drive!
