Happy Birthday Carder! & Wind River Wyoming Trip!

Happy 3rd Birthday Carder!! Wow! Three Three Three!!! I can't even believe my baby is 3!! This is now the 3rd year we have had a camping trip on Carder's birthday! It is an annual tradition in our family to go on one last camping trip before school starts and it always lands on Carder's birthday! Lucky kid he gets to go camping on his birthday! This year we went to the Wind River Mountains in Wyoming! It was sure beautiful and scenic! Nothing beats escaping the summer heat up in the Mountains near a lake!

We took Carder's birthday presents with us in the car and he opened them as we drove! We gave him things he could do, play, and eat in the car to help with the five hour drive!!

 Birthday cupcakes! Yum & messy!

Three brothers! Lovin that birthday boy!

The kids made bead necklaces as we drove, then while Carder slept they decorated him!!

While we set up camp a dear came into our camp sight. Carder loved seeing the dear!

We had a relaxing time in our campsite, it was nice hanging out in our hammocks!

We even had birthday cake for this cute birthday boy on the camping trip! But we couldn't have candles because it was a little windy and blew out the flame! Happy Birthday buddy! We sure love you! Carder is a very special little boy! He is mostly happy, he loves to sing, he loves to play with his toy animals. Glad he is in our family!

The Green River Lakes is where we stayed.

This is one of the reason's why we chose Wind Rivers: Square Top Mountain! Nate has always wanted to come here and now I know why! It was so majestic and scenic!!

The kids waded their feet and 'tried' to stay dry! The water was really cold!

This was close to camp so we came down here often.

Love these camping trips with my family! This is what life is all about: family & being together!

Just sitting and relaxing by the lake! Glad we could escape life for a few days!

We had a six mile hike planned around the lake, to a waterfall and natural bridge planned the next day.

I loved watching my kids laugh and play in the water! They just hooped and hollered with joy!

Maybe some day I will hike to the top of Square Top Mountain! In the mean time I will just enjoy watching it from bellow!

I knew one of my kids would get wet in the water! It's impossible to take kids to a lake and say "don't get wet!"

I'm glad my family loves the outdoors so much!

We always forget something on a camping trip....this time it was the camping stove!! We just laughed about it and said "Oh well! I guess we'll feel like pioneers cooking over the fire!" The meals turned out fine and food always tastes better when you are camping anyway!

While we were fishing we heard a pack of wolves howling! It was coming from this mountain! It was so awesome to hear them howling!

 At sunset we went fishing!

Carder's favorite thing about fishing is playing with the worms!

The reflection of the water was amazing! Absolutely perfect!

Mara is quite the fishing girl! She can even cast it herself!

And Caleb too loves fishing! We would all love it more if we caught something!
Carder likes to hold the pole!

Poor Ty! He felt so sick as we were fishing and he suddenly had the 24 hour flu bug hit him! It was horrible! All night he was sick and even into the next day.

Camping is not fun when you are sick! :(

The next day was another beautiful day up the mountains! Nate took Ty and Mara fishing again first thing in the morning. They did not catch one fish! I stayed at camp with Ty and Carder. Poor Ty just hung out in the hammock all day or his sleeping bag. So much for our planned hike! Maybe next time!

In the afternoon the kids wanted to swim in the lake!

Brrr! The water was freezing!

Cute little 3 year old boy! He thought the water was way cold and just wanted to get his feet wet!

I don't know how Caleb could go so far in cold temperatures!

Mara even went under the water! Yikes!

Too bad it wasn't a sandy beach! The rocks hurt our feet!
Three crazy kids balancing on rocks!

One last look at the lake! It was a quick camping trip but it was nice to get away!

Just beautiful!

Ty felt a little better the last night! It's no fun to be sick, especially when you are camping! But he was a trooper and we're glad he was ok!
