When Nate asked me if I wanted to go to Island Park Idaho for a camping trip my response was "Sure! Why not?!" He had been looking at the website for making reservation at a popular camp sight but they were all reserved. When he checked back later there was a cancellation and one camp sight was available so we took it! Our trip was a little spontaneous but definitely fun and very scenic!
We visited Harriman State Park. We saw a few geese in the water at the bird refuge.
Don't mind his potty stance! He was just posing for the camera!! Boys!!
Mesa Falls was incredible!
We hiked a little to the water-falls and couldn't believe the noise and volume of this waterfall.
Then we hiked to lower falls which was cool but not as breathtaking as upper falls.
The kids playing at the boat dock while we figured out our trip down the river.
We went swimming at the Island Park Dam.
The lake was warmer than I thought it would be and much warmer than the river!
We had a lot of fun in our raft, paddling around the lake!
This was our awesome camping spot right along the river. We saw so many kinds of birds along the river.
I must say we had exceptional meals this camping trip and we tried a few new recipes. Corn on the cob in the campfire--amazing, very delicious! "Brown-bears"--biscuit dough wrapped around roasting sticks and cooked over the fire then smeared with butter and sprinkled with cinnamon & sugar! Tasty!
We enjoyed beautiful sunsets and ate our dinners mostly after eight every night! We played all days until the sun went down!
Watching the sun go down after a very fun play day!
What an awesome place to visit! Can't wait to go again!
We had fun cooking around the campfire and hanging out! This is what summer vacation is all about!
