A day in the great outdoors!

With the Government shutdown a few weeks ago Nate had a nice two weeks off of work! By nice I mean it was nice for me. I had him home all day every day to myself! I was grateful we had money in our savings and Nate did get back-pay so we were fine. It could have been worse and since he did get paid it was a two week vacation, well not really! He sure worked hard and got a lot done but there was a point that he reached and had cabin fever and had to get out of the house! So we took the kids out of school and headed up the forest to spend a day in the great outdoors and enjoy the beautiful fall weather.

This is a little river before we entered the forest.

The scenery was nice. There were still a few autumn leaves on the trees.

You can see where a landslide took place several years ago. The trees were all knocked down.

Silly Mara dancing in the forest road!

We spent most of the day fishing! I think I caught the first fish! We went to a little pond up Ferron Canyon.

Caleb caught a fish too!

But Mara wins the prize for fishing! She must have caught a half dozen or so! She just kept saying "I caught another one!"

Even Carder took a turn, but I don't think he had the patience for it!

Although it was a sunny day it was a little bit chilly! Especially in the shade! Caleb had to put on Nate's sweater to keep warm!

Carder didn't think sitting in the cold was much fun! He liked running around in the dirt though!

What a cute fisherman! He caught one fish. We told him we couldn't go until he caught one and he did!

Then we drove up a little higher and went to another pretty spot. Not to fish but to hang out and explore.

Ty looks like he is ready for an adventure!

Ty was really excited about blowing up the raft and taking it for a ride so we did! It was a lot of fun!

I tried getting a cute shot of this darling little guy but he didn't want to sit still for the camera!

He sure is growing right up! He loved being outdoors.

I tried teaching Carder to throw rocks in the water. He hasn't quite got it! A little more practice!

After the boys turn it was our turn. There was a slight breeze and it isn't as easy to paddle in this as it looks! We didn't get very far, but it was pretty fun!

After a great time in the mountains it was time to go home!

I think we had too much fun! The kids were exhausted!

Carder is a good little sleeper in the car now! What a sweet little boy!

It sure was a fun day vacation! Glad we could have a fun day together as a family!
