The Pinewood Derby!

You know I must be super busy when it takes me several weeks to blog!! I am up to my eyeballs with painting projects! I am chasing a little baby around who learned how to crawl. I am coaching soccer. I am constantly finding fun new projects to do with Caleb!! The list goes on and on...but no more excuses! I had to blog about an exciting event that took place a couple weeks ago: The Pinewood Derby! This was Ty's first pinewood derby!

Who knew making a wooden car could take so much time?!! I must admit that I grumbled a little bit about how much time was spent making Ty's car. Every night for a couple weeks was spent cutting, sanding, painting, sanding, weighing, decorating.....it was a lot of time!  But I have repented and I will say how grateful I am that Nate spent so much time and effort helping his son! This was a great father and son activity! Nate did a great job helping Ty but allowing Ty to do it also!

What a handsome scouting boy and a very awesome speeding race car! It was great to have Ty so excited and proud of his car!

The finished product! Everything about this car was perfect! I told Nate he should just use the same car next year, but that's not how it works! It's a good thing Nate is so good at making these cars, he is going to be doing it for the next eight+ years!!

Ty said he wanted fire on his car! I have to admit I thought it was the best looking car!!

The question really is: how did Ty's race car do?! He came in 3rd place!! Yay! Congrats Ty! It was pretty fun to watch the race! I know Ty was super excited about the pinewood derby! What a great experience for him and his dad!
