The Bonfire!

For Family Home Evening last week we went to our friend's farm and had a bonfire! Not just a little hotdog roast around a campfire...it was a HUGE BONFIRE! If we were to have sung an opening song I think "The spirit of God like a fire is burning" would have been appropriate!

Don't be too worried--it was quite a large fire, but we had a water hose ready to put the fire out at any time! Ty thought it was amazing!

Ty not only loved watching it burn, but he liked adding sticks and logs to the already burning fire!

I have never felt such a powerful burning blazing fire before! It was intense. You really couldn't even get close enough to roast your hotdog. Here Brady is standing behind the plank with his hotdog at the end of a long stick! That was one great idea! Nate and I put our hotdogs on sticks near coals and went down to rotate them.

The nice thing about the fire being so big and hot was the kids didn't want to even get near it! Here Caleb is standing way back trying to throw a piece of wood at it!

While all the boys marveled at the intense fire....

...the girls sat around and visited in their camping chairs! So true isn't it?!

That is one messy face Miss Mara! What can I say? She loved the Kool-aid!!

And this little buddy loved his hotdog! He ate it all up!

It was a fun fun night with friends! Glad we could all get together. There has never been...and there probably never will be a campfire quite the same as this one!

You seldom see bonfires anymore. They were a happening when I was young.
It was an exciting experience for your children.
I am so glad you have so many friends to enrich your lives.
Thanks for posting this and all the work you do on your blog. I am blessed almost daily to be able to view the happenings in your family.
