The painting project!

This is what our kitchen looked like. Red wall. I liked it! Nate on the other hand HATED it! Loathed, greatly disliked...you get the idea! He wanted something warmer, not so intense. He said the red filled him with anger! He really did not like the red in the kitchen! So the sweet wife that I am decided I would repaint it for his Christmas present. We looked at several color samples and Nate has always wanted a yellow kitchen. That was fine with me as long as it was the right yellow.

First I had to prime the walls and cover the dark red walls. Here was a message I wrote for Nate! As soon as he walked in and saw it he started to laugh! I only painted my beautiful red walls because I love that man!

When the paint store tinted the primer it looked blue. We wanted to see what the yellow looked like without priming everything and it pretty much looked like a circus in our kitchen!

This was either the first or second yellow choice. We picked three or four different colors and didn't like any of them. Choosing colors is the pits! I don't mind the painting part, but it's finding the right color that is the hardest! I must have painted this wall eight or nine times! Between all the priming and painting it sure was a nightmare!!

This is the almost finished product! The 'yellow' we finally went with was more of a creamy light yellow. I wish it was a tiny bit darker with more contrast, but it's okay, at least it wasn't the shocking yellow we had before! We are still going to do a tile back splash under the window and around the back wall.

It is definitely different than the red. (I kind of miss the red!) But it's a lot lighter and brighter in the kitchen.

I love this kitchen, no matter the color!! It was quite the project but it's only the beginning! Next painting project: family room, living room, and hallway...but maybe we will wait until AFTER the holidays!

Wow Erica! What a nice wife you are! I am the one who is requesting the painting to be done, and my sweet husband is the work horse who does it! Amazing how much color can change a room! Looks beautiful!
