Our miserable-long-nightmare of a journey!

The movers came and packed everything up in our house. Grandma and Grandpa Lewis (bless their hearts) drove out to help us out. We packed up our U-haul with what we will need in Price and the rest of our things went to storage. We cleaned the house and stopped at the Cheese Factory one last time for a big ice-cream cone!.....

...all of that piece of cake! Went fantastic! Smooth sailing!

What should have been 16 hour drive turned into a 30 hour commute. At times we just wanted to turn around but we couldn't. We had to keep going forward. We wondered if we were really making the right choice, yes! This is what we are to do. Sometimes it's the trials of our faith that make us stronger---or makes us crazy!

Here are a few 'highlights' of our unbelievable, incredibly long, miserable journey home:

snow through Highway 6
slipping & sliding
put chains on
slow going
stay the night in Beaverton (only drove 69 miles!)
more snow
terrible road conditions
pure ice
no snow trucks out
Grandpa's car overheats
stop and wait
Mara wants to turn around and go home
awful traffic
flat tire
fix flat tire in Cascade Locks
Erica feels sick: Sore throat, fever, chills, ear ache, swollen glands, aches and pains
Priesthood blessing
stay the night in Pendleton (217 miles)
wake up early to beat the storm
roads better
storm lapping at our heals
make better time
kids bored
thank goodness for DVD player
rock chip on our van
Erica wants to die--still not feeling well
We finally make it to Tooele to stay the night with Mimi and Papa (588 miles)
Erica goes to the ER
Diagnosis: Strep Throat
We leave the ER at 11:50 just in time to say "Happy New Year" and get in bed

What a way to start the New Year! It has to get better than the way it started! We look forward to an exciting new adventure in Utah.

You poor thing. We got caught in the snow too. And a bad accident that blocked 22 on our way to Grants Pass. It took us 4 hours just to get to Corvallis. Nightmare.

Seriously, this can't be the omen for the upcoming year! Things can only get better, I AGREE! and yes, I think this meant you were supposed to stay here with us in T-town. LOL Just kidding. I'm glad you finally made it and Candace only wants to go back to bed because she inherited your old calling! *cheesy grin* Miss you!
